Course Descriptions
General Chemistry
This is the first quarter of a one year (3 quarter) university course taught. Topics covered in the first quarter include atom and molecule concepts, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, solution chemistry, thermochemical concepts, quantum theory of the atoms and molecules, chemical bonding concepts, periodic table and trends, and gas laws. On this site you will find my detailed lecture notes as well as other resources for the course.
Chemistry 1910H - Honors General Chemistry
This is the first semester of a one year university course taught. Topics covered in the first quarter include atom and molecule concepts, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, solution chemistry, thermochemical concepts, quantum theory of the atoms and molecules, chemical bonding concepts, periodic table and trends, and gas laws.
Chemistry 4300 - Physical Chemistry
This is one semester of a one year university course on Physical Chemistry.
Chemistry 6120 - Data Acquisition, Statistical Analysis, and Data Processing in the Chemical Sciences
This is a graduate level chemistry course on data acquisition and analysis in chemistry. The topics covered in the course include statistical analysis of data, modeling of data, Fourier transform methods, and digital and analog acquisition of data.
Chemistry 6520 - Thermodynamics
This is a first-year graduate level chemistry review course on thermodynamics in chemistry.
Chemistry 7160 - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy is a central tool for practically all scientists interested in molecular structure, particularly in disordered condensed phases such as liquids and amorphous solids. The topics developed in this course include the quantum mechanical foundations of NMR, experimental aspects such as spectrometer design and operation, and the processing of experimental data, and the application of NMR to specific problems in chemistry.
